Olympic Track Coach Discusses Rekortan Track Surface

Harvey Glance knows track and the surfaces on which the sport runs. A three-time Olympian and coach of the 2012 400m Olympic champion, Harvey sat down recently with Gary Wilson of Advanced Polymer Technology to discuss Rekortan, the track surface “powered by speed.” The resulting video covers issues related to training and racing, and how track surface can make a difference. Backdrop for the discussion is Rekortan’s recent resurfacing of the University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field track, home of the Penn Relays. The video is available on YouTube and on APT Sports’ home page www.sportsbyapt.com

Harvey Glance“Today’s athlete needs not only shock absorption, which most people hear about, but also energy return,” said Harvey Glance. “You’ve got to give back to the body. Once your foot goes down, you have to have more energy back into the body which gives you the ability to compete and train at a better rate.”

The Rekortan track at Franklin Field will be used through the spring track season, highlighted by the Penn Relays in April. The Relays attract elite racers from around the world.

For more information about training issues and how the surface matters, follow APT Sports on Facebook, Twitter or Linkedin as the spring season approaches. Information about training issues as well as how track surfaces affect athletes will be shared, plus a countdown to the Relays in April.

North Greenville University Selects APT

North Greenville University, a prominent South Carolina institution, has selected a full range of APT products for three of their varsity sports programs. Gridiron RS+52T is the turf of choice for the lacrosse and softball fields, and APT’s world renowned Rekortan system was chosen for the track surface. Various competing surfaces were presented to the school. However APT came out on top and was selected by University President, James Epting, with enormous support from the school’s Athletics Director and coaches. The primary reasons that the university went with APT products were due to APT’s excellent engineered quality and company strength.

In a letter to APT’s Sales Director – Gary Wilson, James Epting was quoted as saying,

“You and your staff have done an excellent job in sharing the expertise of your company to provide first-class facilities. Without hesitation I can recommend you and your company to others.”
